Kait’s Kanine Services was built from real-world experience with dogs who don’t fit traditional care models.

Kait’s Kanine Services was founded on a lifelong connection to animals and extensive hands‑on experience caring for dogs with diverse needs. Founder Kaitlyn grew up on a farm in northern Iowa, where caring for animals was a daily responsibility and respect for animal behavior and welfare was ingrained from an early age. This upbringing fostered a strong instinct for reading animal body language, recognizing stress signals, and providing appropriate care across a wide range of temperaments.

 

As an adult, Kaitlyn began pet sitting casually and later transitioned into professional pet care through Rover during the COVID‑19 pandemic. This experience involved working with a broad spectrum of dogs, including those with anxiety, reactivity, medical needs, and limited social tolerance. Over time, a growing passion for behavior‑aware care led to the decision to formalize and elevate services into a structured, professional business focused on dogs requiring more intentional support.

 

Michael  brings both lived experience with misunderstood breeds and strong technical expertise to the business. He grew up with Dobermans—dogs that are frequently misunderstood and require consistent training, structure, and responsible ownership. This experience reinforced the importance of clear boundaries, intentional handling, and advocacy for dogs who do not fit common stereotypes. Professionally, Michael has a background in engineering and contributes significantly to facility planning, product development, and operational support. His skill set aids in thoughtful design decisions, efficiency, and long‑term scalability, particularly as the business expands into specialized environments such as private dog parks and premium boarding.

 

Together, the founders combine empathy, structure, lived experience, and intentional design to create care models that support dogs often excluded from traditional pet care services. Kait’s Kanine Services is intentionally designed to remain a small‑scale, relationship‑driven business focused on quality of care rather than rapid expansion. Our goal is to maintain a calm, family‑like environment where dogs receive consistent care from familiar handlers who understand their individual needs, routines, and triggers.
